Samsung HLP2

Verify and make sure that  the ballast operation is OK before proceed.

The symptom can range from

No video.

No turn On [Dead].

LED error code flashing.

There are 3 types of chassis involved in 2004 DLP line.

L3 & L5 CHASSIS SET-UP

  1. Remove the lower back cover of the unit.

  2. Remove the Lamp Assembly from the Light Engine.

  3. Pull back the Light Engine Assembly slightly and do Ballast Test. Follow up.

  • Plug in the unit.

  • Turn Power ON.

  • During DLP lamp start process, the DMD PCB activates the Ballast
PCB.  If the Ballast is operating properly, the linger Spark Gap Tube
will begin to glow a few seconds into the process.  The Spark Gap Tube
should only glow for a short time, and must go dark.  An audible sound
is also heard during this time.  This procedure will repeat every 15 to
30 seconds for approx: 2 to 4 minutes.

  • If the Spark Gap Tune ignites, yet lamp never turns ON, make sure that the lamp is defective.

  • If the Tube does not light up; check and change the power supply
PCB.  If it lights up, check/change the DMD PCB.  Check all connections
from and to the DMD PCB.
